The visa office in Madrid is closed

The embassy says its visa office closed on 30 June 2018. A trip to the embassy is not a substitute for contacting the Global Service Centre. Keep your application and correspondence available when calling the Australian number.

Use the caller’s local hours

The published European telephone hours are 09:00–17:00, Monday to Friday, in the caller’s country. That means the office clock in Australia is not an opening-status indicator. Australian national public holidays can still affect the service.

Before asking about a pending application

Open the account used to apply and read the latest request from the department. Write down the transaction or application reference and the date you submitted any requested documents. Ask a specific question about the next action rather than placing several calls with the same status request.

Before you call

  • Your application or transaction reference.
  • The name and passport details used to apply.
  • The date of the latest message from the department.
  • The exact question you need answered.

Calling from another country

For an ordinary international number, copy the full number shown above. The plus sign replaces the international access prefix when your phone accepts it. Do not add another country code to a number that already starts with +.

Check the hours attached to the line you need. A listed office address does not mean walk-in access is available. If no one answers, read the official contact page for an online enquiry route before trying another department.
