Arrange the visit first

An appointment is required. If the booking process does not work for you, the embassy says you can phone or email. Describe the booking problem and the service you are trying to arrange; don’t assume an unanswered booking request is a confirmed appointment.

Who can attend

The office asks visitors not to bring friends or relatives to appointments. Both parents may attend a child’s passport appointment. Check the instructions in your booking if you need someone to accompany you for another reason.

Finding the building

The address is on Avenida da Liberdade. The official directions name Avenida on the Blue metro line as the closest stop. Have the floor number with you as well as the street address, and arrive close to your appointment time.

Before you call

  • Your nationality and the city you are in.
  • The service you need and any existing reference number.
  • Your travel date, if a deadline affects your enquiry.
  • A return phone number and an email address you can access.

Calling from another country

For an ordinary international number, copy the full number shown above. The plus sign replaces the international access prefix when your phone accepts it. Do not add another country code to a number that already starts with +.

Check the hours attached to the line you need. A listed office address does not mean walk-in access is available. If no one answers, read the official contact page for an online enquiry route before trying another department.
