A phone service is not a walk-in service
The stated telephone availability does not mean the building is open all night. Phone first to ask which service handles your case and whether you need an appointment. Explain whether you are visiting Portugal or living there.
Collecting a travel document
For an emergency travel document, the office says it will email when the document is ready. Wait for that message before going to collect it. Check that the email address on your application is one you can still open while abroad.
Preparing for a visit
The embassy’s contact page describes restrictions on mobile phones, laptops and similar electronics. Read its visitor instructions before setting off. If a booking message contains instructions for your appointment, keep a copy you can read without relying on your phone.
Before you call
- Your nationality and the city you are in.
- The service you need and any existing reference number.
- Your travel date, if a deadline affects your enquiry.
- A return phone number and an email address you can access.
Calling from another country
For an ordinary international number, copy the full number shown above. The plus sign replaces the international access prefix when your phone accepts it. Do not add another country code to a number that already starts with +.
Check the hours attached to the line you need. A listed office address does not mean walk-in access is available. If no one answers, read the official contact page for an online enquiry route before trying another department.
