IMPORTANT RULES
Understand the key rules for calling China, including how mobile and landline numbers differ.
Every international call to China must begin with +86. Do not use 0086 or other prefixes when calling internationally.
Chinese mobile phone numbers are 11 digits total: +86 followed by a 2–3 digit mobile prefix (1XX) and 8 digits. Examples: 138, 139, 147, 150, 151, 152, 157, 158, 159, 188, 189.
Landline calls require a 2–3 digit area code (e.g., 10 for Beijing, 21 for Shanghai). Drop any leading 0 that appears on domestic Chinese numbers when dialing internationally.
If you have a Chinese landline number written as (010) 1234 5678 (Beijing), dial it internationally as +86 10 1234 5678. The leading 0 is only used for domestic calls within China.
Some special numbers such as toll-free lines (800 numbers) or premium services may not be reachable from international calling services. Contact the recipient directly if you cannot reach a special number.
TIMING & TIPS
Plan your calls to align with business hours and time zones. China is 6 hours ahead of East African Time (EAT).
Business hours in China typically run 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM China Standard Time (CST). Tanzania observes East African Time (EAT, UTC+3), which means when it's noon in Tanzania, it's 6:00 PM in China.
Optimal window for calls
8:00 AM – 12:00 PM EAT
Aligns with early-to-mid morning in China (2:00 PM – 6:00 PM CST)
Business hours in China
9:00 AM – 6:00 PM CST
3:00 AM – 12:00 PM EAT (early morning in Tanzania)

CONNECTIVITY
What to know if a call fails or doesn't connect as expected.
Verify the full number including +86 and area code. Check your internet connection—Sayfone requires stable broadband to place calls. Some corporate firewalls or VPN restrictions may block calling. Try disconnecting from corporate network or VPN and retry.
Ensure you've removed the leading 0 from the area code if the original number shows (0XX). For example, Beijing (010) 1234 5678 becomes +86 10 1234 5678 when dialing internationally.
Toll-free numbers (800), emergency services (110), and premium services may not be reachable via international calling services. Contact the organization directly or try alternative contact methods.
Network quality varies based on Tanzania's internet infrastructure and current traffic. If quality is poor, try calling at a different time or ensure you have a wired or 5G connection when possible.
If issues persist, verify the phone number, check your browser settings, and ensure JavaScript is enabled. For further assistance, contact Sayfone support.
