What this centre handles

The official page covers urgent consular assistance for Canadians outside Canada. It expressly excludes immigration, permanent residence and visa information. Use the department handling your application for those enquiries.

If a voice call is not possible

The official page lists an emergency form and SOS@international.gc.ca. Choose an official channel you can use reliably and include a return contact method. Avoid sending the same urgent request through several unrelated government inboxes.

Call charges and collect calls

Canada’s page says collect calls are available where the telephone service allows them. That is not a promise of free calls through SayFone. Check the Canada rate for an ordinary paid call, or ask a local operator about its collect-call procedure.

Before you call

  • Your nationality and the city you are in.
  • The service you need and any existing reference number.
  • Your travel date, if a deadline affects your enquiry.
  • A return phone number and an email address you can access.

Calling from another country

For an ordinary international number, copy the full number shown above. The plus sign replaces the international access prefix when your phone accepts it. Do not add another country code to a number that already starts with +.

Check the hours attached to the line you need. A listed office address does not mean walk-in access is available. If no one answers, read the official contact page for an online enquiry route before trying another department.

Questions about this contact

Can this number answer an IRCC visa question?+

No. The centre says it does not provide immigration, permanent residence or visa information.

Can someone in Canada call for a Canadian abroad?+

Yes. The official page gives the same Ottawa number for that situation.

Is this a government website?+

No. SayFone publishes this directory and sells calling services. The official links take you to the office responsible for the service.
