DIALING RULES
Sri Lanka uses the international format +94 for all calls from abroad. Mobile and landline numbers follow specific digit patterns and prefixes.
Whether calling from a landline or mobile, use the international format (+94) or the 00 prefix. Local dialing within Sri Lanka does not use +94.
Sri Lanka's major mobile operators (Dialog, Mobitel, Airtel, Hutch) all use prefixes in the 70–77 range. After the country code, you dial the 10-digit mobile number directly.
Landline calls must include a two-digit area code after the country code. Colombo (11) is the most common; other major cities are listed in the dialing reference above.
Within Sri Lanka, local dialing to other areas uses a leading 0 before the area code. This is not used when calling from abroad; use +94 instead.
Sri Lankan toll-free numbers (starting with 1800, 1888, or similar) and premium-rate services may not be accessible from international lines. Use standard landline or mobile numbers instead.

TROUBLESHOOTING
International calls to Sri Lanka are generally reliable, but connection quality and number accessibility can vary by operator and network conditions.
Network congestion can cause dropped calls or static, especially during peak business hours. Try calling during off-peak times, use a stable WiFi connection if calling via browser, or try the call again after a few minutes.
Verify you have entered the correct area code and number format. Landlines require a two-digit area code; mobile numbers do not. If the number is correct and the call still fails, the recipient's line may be unreachable from abroad or temporarily unavailable.
Sri Lankan toll-free numbers (1800, 1888 ranges) and premium-rate services (0900 ranges) typically do not work from international lines. Use the direct landline or mobile number instead.
International call rates vary by provider and time of day. With Sayfone, rates are transparent and shown before you dial. Always verify the per-minute rate and remaining balance before placing a call.
