IMPORTANT RULES
South Korea follows strict number formatting. Understand these rules to avoid connection issues and ensure reliable calls.
When dialing South Korea from abroad, always drop the leading 0 from the area code or mobile prefix. From Thailand, dial 82 followed by the area code without the 0.
South Korean mobile numbers begin with 01 (followed by 0, 1, 2, 5, 6, or 7). Common prefixes include 010, 011, 016. When dialing internationally, drop the leading 0 and dial just 1X.
Landlines are assigned by region. Seoul is 02, Busan is 051, Daegu is 053, etc. Dialing from Thailand, drop the 0 and use the remaining digits.
South Korean landline numbers are typically 8 digits (after the area code). Mobile numbers are 8 digits after the 01X prefix.
Both 001 and 007 are valid international prefixes in Thailand. Some sources note 009 is also available on certain carriers, though 001 and 007 are most common.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Most calls from Thailand to South Korea connect reliably, but understanding potential issues helps you troubleshoot quickly if needed.
Verify you've dialed the correct format: 001 (or 007) + 82 + area/mobile code (without leading 0) + local number. Check that you haven't accidentally included extra spaces or special characters. If dialing a mobile, confirm the 01X prefix is correct.
If you receive a South Korean number without area code information, ask the contact to confirm whether it's a landline (which needs an area code) or a mobile (which begins with 01X). This clarification prevents misdials.
Audio quality depends on your internet connection (if using browser-based calling) and carrier routing. Try placing the call again or switching to a different network. If quality remains poor, consider calling at a different time when network congestion is lower.
Thailand supports both 001 and 007 as international prefixes. If one doesn't work, try the other. Some older phone systems may not recognize 007, so 001 is the safer default.
If calls go unanswered, confirm the time in South Korea (UTC+9). Calls outside business hours (8am–6pm) or on weekends may not be answered. Leave a voicemail with your name, company, and callback number.
