Always use +91 country code
All international calls to India must begin with +91. This is required by the International Telecommunication Regulations. Do not use 0091 or 0091 instead of +91 when dialing from abroad.

IMPORTANT RULES
India uses different number formats for landlines and mobile phones. Understanding these rules ensures your call connects without issues.
All international calls to India must begin with +91. This is required by the International Telecommunication Regulations. Do not use 0091 or 0091 instead of +91 when dialing from abroad.
Indian landlines are dialed as +91, followed by a 2–4 digit area code, then a 6–8 digit local number. Total length after +91 is 10–11 digits. Example: +91 11 2234 5678 (Delhi).
Indian mobile numbers are always 10 digits after the country code. Dial as +91 followed by the 10-digit mobile number. No area code or prefix is needed. Example: +91 9876 543210.
When calling from outside India, omit the leading 0 from Indian area codes. For example, Delhi's domestic code is 011, but from Oman you dial +91 11 (without the 0).
Some traditional phone systems require a short pause after +91 before dialing the area code or number. On Sayfone and modern carriers, this is usually automatic; however, if dialing manually, a 1–2 second pause can improve connection reliability.
CALLING TIPS
India Standard Time (IST) is 3.5 hours ahead of Oman Standard Time (GST). Plan your calls during overlapping business or personal hours to connect with the right person at the right time.
Oman observes a single time zone year-round (GST, UTC+4), while India does not observe daylight saving time (IST, UTC+5:30). This means the time difference remains constant at 1.5 hours.
Best Time
9 AM–12 PM Oman time

Good Time

7:30–10:30 PM India time — evening, still workable
Avoid

COMMON ISSUES
Most calls from Oman to India connect reliably. However, certain network conditions or destination types may cause issues. Here's how to diagnose and fix common problems.
Verify the number format: ensure you're using +91, not 0091, and that mobile numbers are exactly 10 digits after the country code. Check your internet connection on Sayfone or confirm your carrier's international roaming is active. Try the call again after a few seconds.
International calls may have slight delays due to routing distance. If you experience echo, ask the recipient to adjust their speaker volume. On Sayfone, switching between WiFi and mobile data (or vice versa) can sometimes improve quality.
Network instability is the most common cause. Ensure you have a stable internet connection (WiFi preferred) before dialing. If using mobile data, move closer to your cell tower. Sayfone will show connection status before you dial.
Toll-free numbers (numbers starting with 1800, 1801, 1808 in India) may not be reachable from abroad. Government switchboards and toll numbers sometimes have restrictions. When in doubt, ask for a direct-dial alternative.
